Community is defined by more than just where we live. It's a feeling of fellowship that stems from sharing ideas, interests, and goals with those nearest to you.
We all have the same basic needs of food, shelter, and clothing, and we all typically want what's best for our family, friends, and neighbors.
One of the best ways you can support your local community is to shop local and shop small. Buy from the family owned pharmacy, hit the local natural food market, shop the small clothing boutique, buy handmade items from craft fairs.
Did you know purchasing ONE bottle of our elderberry syrup for $24 (or less) supports at least seven local Tennessee entities? You support my little fam bam, the local honey farmer who provides us honey and bee pollen, the disabled vet and his staff who manufacture our products, the privately owned insurance agency, the owner of the small storage unit we rent, the TN Dept of Ag because we are part of the Pick TN family of products, and the local retailer. That doesn't even include the Portland Chamber of Commerce and wide variety of non-profits we support.
One simple purchase directly and positively impacts that many people in our community. And that my friends, is why community is more than a place, and that is why we are all better together.
